Artist Statement:
I am a pictorial artist. I work in portraiture and landscape. My portrait work began in the 1990’s with seven years of intense study under two master artists who greatly influenced me, and through them I was introduced to current and historical masters, to their styles, and to their perspectives.
I prefer to design my fiber art based upon my watercolor paintings & drawings. The techniques I use include: watercolor painting, and painting with ink on textiles such as silk and cotton, and stitching.
My creative interests help me balance my life. My art flows as I respond to a model or scene. I want the viewer to have a sense of rest in my art and to linger to finish the story I have begun. The message I want to convey with my art is one of harmony and simplicity.
