Alzheimer's Orange County Holiday Open House

Alzheimer’s Orange County held their Holiday Open House and Art Exhibition on Wednesday, December 16, 2015.

I was thrilled to see my name as a Memories in the Making facilitator listed on a huge “bill-board” sign and then again as one of the contributing artist’s in the exhibition.  Wow, I was impressed to see ME up there.
Eight local artists were paired up with Memories in the Making artists.  The local artist chose a piece they found particularly inspiring done by a MIM artist.  The local artist painted a companion piece that was exhibited together with the MIM piece.  All of these wonderful paintings were offered for sale at the Open House, the sales benefiting the Alzheimer’s Orange County organization.  They do such a fantastic work in so many ways for our community, we all felt very honored to be a part of it.

I was so inspired by 2 pieces that I contributed 2 painting to the exhibit.  The first one was displayed in a prominent place and as I stood looking at it and admiring the framing (all the framing work was donated by local framing artists) a young man, facilitating sales, spoke to a woman next to me saying “look at the lines in the purple sky…” so I said “would you like me to tell you how I did it?”  The conversation took off and he introduced me to a gentleman and his daughter that had just bought my piece – what a thrill!  And $450 to the association!

I don’t know yet if my other piece sold the night of the party.  I'm just really happy to have participated.
