Working in a Series #2

This is a progress photo of my second series piece working with values in black & white.  My design is based on my watercolor portrait of the live model.  I have used commercial cottons, bamboo/cotton batting and ink.  Lots of stitching yet to do.  Stay tuned for the finished piece.  (11" X 12")

Old Town Tustin Artwalk Saturday October 22nd

Teresa Shippy and I had a great day at the Tustin Artwalk.  There were 82 artists and it was wonderfully attended.  We were busy all day! Several of our friends came by, which added to the fun.

I displayed both art quilt and watercolor pieces.

Working in a Series

I am working on a portrait series to push my use of values.  I decided to start with blacks and whites.  It is great fun.  This is an 'in process' photo of "Man with Hat #1"  - cool title huh - anyway the series plan will evolve pushing warm color values and then pushing cool color values.  ~ 10"X10"
I have used InkTense Pencils for shading.

Remember Autumn's Grace?

Remember Autumn's Grace in watercolor? Here's my 'in process' portrait of her with fabric. I have used fabric dyes and acrylics to paint the portrait on cotton fabric and used batik fabric applique to enhance her hair.  Background stitching and finishing touches planned for this weekend!  (~16" X20")
